The Office of the Inspector General is the internal watchdog for waste, fraud and abuse within the U.S. Department of the Interior. As a Communications Specialist. I served as a Communications Specialist responsible for developing visual and written content that explained the OIG’s mission, investigations, and strategic initiatives. My work supported internal communication goals while also helping inform the American public about the OIG’s role in promoting government accountability.
Whistle Blower Marketing Campaign
One of the standout projects I led was the Whistleblower Awareness Campaign—a multi-platform initiative designed to educate federal employees and taxpayers on the protections and reporting mechanisms available through the OIG. I created a series of engaging graphics, social media assets, and video content that made complex topics more accessible. The campaign not only increased visibility for the OIG’s whistleblower program, but also reinforced its importance in the fight against waste, fraud, and abuse.
Whistleblower 101 Video
This video was a cornerstone piece in a broader public awareness campaign for the U.S. Department of the Interior’s Office of Inspector General. Designed specifically for social media platforms, the video aimed to educate American taxpayers on the vital role whistleblowers play in supporting government transparency and accountability.
I led the project from concept to completion, writing the script, conducting on camera interviews, filming all B roll footage, and handling lighting, audio, and direction. I also edited the full video, designed and animated the lower third graphics, and ensured the final product aligned with the campaign’s tone and federal visual standards.
The video stood out for its clear messaging and strong storytelling, earning over 10,000 views across government channels. It was personally shared by the U.S. Secretary of the Interior and recognized as one of the campaign’s most impactful and widely viewed pieces.
Hotline Motion Graphic
This motion graphic was the final installment in the whistleblower awareness campaign. Designed to demystify the reporting process, the piece visually illustrates how the DOI OIG hotline collects reports of fraud, waste, abuse, and whistleblower retaliation, and walks viewers through the steps that follow once a complaint is submitted on doioig.gov.
The visual narrative was carefully crafted to simplify a complex system into a clear, approachable user journey. I used clean iconography, purposeful motion, and strategic pacing to reinforce understanding and retention. As the campaign’s closing piece, this explainer tied together earlier messaging and served as an actionable guide, helping viewers understand not just why whistleblowers matter—but exactly how to take that first step toward accountability.
